Article: Pure forms

Pure forms

Form is first and foremost an expression.

For Aristotle, form is one of the “four causes,” that is, the reasons that explain the existence of something: thus, form is not simply the geometric shape of an object, but what orders the matter from which that object is made, and defines its essence and its perfection.
Form is therefore the principle of unity that gives meaning to matter.
GEMME Joaillerie explores most pure forms to create its collections

The Circle of the BULLES Collection

It represents the finite and infinite whole, having neither beginning nor end; it symbolizes unity, infinity, perfection, eternity.
The circle represents the world; it inspires universality.
It represents Woman in her aspect of fertility, the circle being the womb, life. This shape and rounded shapes in general symbolize creativity.

The Horizontal Rectangle or Golden Rectangle of the FUSION Collection

This symbolic form is peaceful, it makes the creation more static.
It rests on its long side and spreads out on the horizon like the sea, the panoramic view.

The line from the LIGNES Collection

Vertical, it represents the tree, the link between heaven and earth.
It evokes strength, dignity, truth, balance, regularity, elevation.
Horizontal, it represents the horizon, stability, calm, rest, tranquility, openness.

The LIGNES Collection, whose symbol is the eponymous shape, gives full meaning to these evocations.
